Civil Rights Cold Case Records Portal

This portal provides access to a digital collection of records related to selected civil rights cold cases. These cases were assembled in response to the Civil Rights Cold Case Records Collection Act of 2018.

The Civil Rights Cold Case Records Collection Act of 2018 (Public Law No: 115-426) established the Civil Rights Cold Case Records Review Board and requires federal agencies to identify civil rights cold case records, digitize those records, and transfer them to the National Archives for public access.

The Civil Rights Cold Case Records Collection Act of 2018 tasked a board of private citizens with expediting the public release of cold cases from the Civil Rights era, spanning 1940-1979. For more information on the Board, please visit its website, coldcaserecords.gov.
